Meera Bai new family viewed as intense devotion to god as a problem. She refused her worship her husband, family, she knew only one god-shri Krishna bhagwan. She left out the palace and went to village mandir. Her father-in-law was not happy with this and tried to kill her with poisonous drink. She not knowing about that, she drank the poisonous glass but their lot of love and devotes of shri Krishna saved her from the effect of the poison. After seeing that her father-in-law was surprised. When her father-in-law was passed. She coroneted as queen. Even as the queen she continued to visit the village mandir, at this mandir she met her guru Raidas. Who further inspired Mira Mai devotion and gave her Ektaro as a gift. Which She played when She sang her kirtans. After her husband died, Mira Mai locked up in her room. She then decided to leave the palace for good and set off on a pilgrimage to Mathura, Vrindavan and Dwarka.
Meera Mai was a born poet. She expressed her deep devotion to Shri Krishna. With her Ektaro in hand, she sang hundreds of kirtans that she composed each full of piety, love, and dedication. Even today many people still sing her kirtans. Although, she was a queen, she traded all her riches to worship Shri Krishna Bhagwan.
