Worshipping mother of skanda on the fifth day of Navratri festival has also great significance. Her elegant appearance mesmerizes the worshippers. She is the true goddess of purity. Once a demon named Tarkasur was a source of trouble for the whole universe. He knows that he could be killed only by the son of lord Shiva. But lord Shiva didn’t not married so Tarkasur believed that he is immortal.
Later lord Shiva was married to the goddess parvati, the daughter of Himalaya. Lord Kartikeya of skandkumar was born. Hence goddess parvati came to be known as skandamata. Later he killed Tarkasur. She rides on a lion and accomplishes his son to kill them.
Devi Skandamata is a symbol of the mother-son relationship. By worshipping her, you get immensive love and affection from her. You may attain supreme joy even in this very mortal world. She shows the directions of moksha.
